Jonathan Denis was elected MLA for Calgary-Egmont (now Calgary-Acadia) in 2008.
Since this time, he has served in cabinet as Solicitor General and Minister of Public Security, Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs, Parliamentary Assistant for Energy, and Deputy Government House Leader.
Before serving as your MLA, Jonathan was a senior associate with the Calgary office of a national law firm and the founder of two businesses. He was also a director of the Institute for Public Sector Accountability, a non-profit organization founded to promote transparency and accountability in the public sector.
In 2009, Jonathan was appointed to the Queen's Counsel of Alberta. In 2010, Jonathan was recognized by Avenue Magazine as one of Calgary's "Top 40 under 40".
A long-time resident of our community, Jonathan has earned a reputation as a tireless worker and a strong financial manager, having reduced his budget by 39% without affecting targets. He has played a strong role in improving seniors’ housing, supporting our veterans, and improving facilities in our constituency.
Jonathan has been a volunteer with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, and Habitat for Humanity where he helped construct homes for a families in need. Jonathan is also a past board member of MP Jason Kenney’s Board of Directors (Conservative Party of Canada).
In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys keeping active at the gym or outside and spending time with family and friends. Jonathan is also an avid fan of both of the Calgary Flames and Calgary Stampeders.
